Both of these drugs are usually applied to the skin as a lotion or gel and is available with a prescription.

There are pros and cons about the use of benzoyl peroxide to treat acne during pregnancy.

Any drug that has the potential to cause birth defects, including isotretinoin and other retinoids, and minocycline, doxycycline, and tetracycline are generally avoided during pregnancy.
