For thousands of years ginger has been used for traditional medicine as a pain killer and anti-inflammatory.

More recently, the researchers confirmed that ginger has anti-inflammatory properties similar to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory Cox-2, which can help relieve pain and inflammation.

Placebo-controlled clinical trial to test the efficacy of ginger in the treatment of pain was conducted in 2001.

The experiments conducted by the University of Miami for six weeks to 261 patients with knee osteoarthritis. The result, ginger has prospects as a pain reliever.

To confirm the efficacy of ginger as an analgesic, researchers at Georgia College and the University of Georgia also conduct placebo-controlled trials.

The researchers divided the volunteers into two groups of 74 placebo-controlled trial.

The first group took two grams of raw ginger every day for 11 days while the second group took two grams of ginger are cooked.

Both the control group took a placebo for the same time period.

On the eighth day all participants were asked to perform a series of physical activities that stimulate pain.

Before and after the physical activity both groups evaluated the pain intensity and the occurrence of inflammation in the body.

The results showed that the group who took ginger experienced a decrease symptoms of inflammation and pain by 25%.

This study confirms without doubt the efficacy of ginger as a pain killer.
