Causes and Symptoms of Acute and Chronic Renal Failure
Renal failure consists of two types: acute renal failure (ARF = acute renal failure), and chronic renal failure (CRF = chronic renal failure).

As the name suggests, ARF occurs suddenly while CRF occurred in the duration or period of time.

Acute and chronic renal failure occurred due to different causes, but treatment for both roughly the same.

Treatment generally includes dialysis kidney failure (dialysis) and kidney transplantation.

Acute Renal Failure

Causes of ARF or acute renal failure include:

o Decreased blood flow to the kidneys caused by trauma or surgery

o Heavy bleeding

o Septic shock

o Acute Dehydration

o Burns

o Infection

o acute tubular necrosis

Certain autoimmune diseases and renal vein clots can cause blockages and lead to acute renal failure.

Other conditions such as scleroderma, transfusion reactions, bleeding during pregnancy, high blood pressure (hypertension) can also cause severe kidney failure.

Clinical symptoms will include a decreased urine output, edema of the legs and ankles, fluid accumulation in the body, reduced sensory sensitivity in the hands and feet, mental disorders, nausea, vomiting, and high blood pressure.

Chronic Renal Failure

Chronic renal failure develops in the long term for years. New symptoms usually appear when renal function only 10 percent or less of normal.

Chronic renal failure symptoms similar to acute renal failure. Diabetes and hypertension is a major cause of chronic renal failure accounts for about 65 percent of the total cases.

However, chronic renal failure may also occur due to other diseases such as glomerulonephritis, polycystic kidneys, or other diseases where there is a blockage in the kidney.

Kidney infection and kidney stones can also cause chronic kidney failure.

Signs of chronic renal failure may include nausea, weight loss, vomiting, hiccups, headache, itching, and fatigue. The symptoms of acute renal failure may also occur in chronic type.

On acute and chronic renal failure will happen accumulation of nitrogenous wastes and other wastes in the body, causing fluid accumulation.

This can not only cause damage to the kidneys, but also the other systems of the body.
